Here’s the truth: very rarely should injured people stop working out. However, there are unique challenges that need to be addressed to ensure exercise is safe and effective.

How do we tackle these issues? Smart programming and communication between the physio, patient and coaches at The Cave ensure the client is rehabilitated optimally. This means you can continue working out during open gym and group classes without compromising your recovery.

With this flow of communication, physio at The Cave provides optimal continuity of care for the patient during their rehabilitation journey. Physio summaries are sent to the patient after each session to ensure questions and concerns are addressed, giving you a solid understanding of the injury and how to best self-manage it.

Strength & conditioning is the perfect approach to long-term injury rehab, helping strengthen weaker muscle groups and regain functionality. Just like our approach to day-to-day fitness training, effective injury rehab needs to integrate progressive overload, rebuilding strength and providing the ongoing challenge required to achieve true rehabilitation.

About Nathan Lacasse

Nathan has had a lifelong passion for strength and conditioning, beginning with his own sporting achievements.

Prior to graduating as a physio, he played professional ice hockey for the Melbourne Ice in the AIHL and in the German Bayernlegia for Gamering Wanderers.

From training for sport to rehabilitating his own injuries, strength and conditioning has always been part of Nathan’s life.

We’re lucky enough to have Nathan come on board at The Cave as our in-house physio, offering members and non-members a fantastic range of injury rehabilitation and physiotherapy services.

Nathan’s Experience

Once COVID progressed to a pandemic, Nathan relocated to rural Victoria. There, he worked for eight months in a long-term care facility treating those most vulnerable to the disease as the primary physiotherapist.

Strength and conditioning principles were directly applied to this population as a major part of their rehabilitation, and many of the residents regained their mobility after years of being immobile.

This valuable experience helped demonstrate the effectiveness of Nate’s approach to rehabilitation, setting clear performance outcomes for each stage of rehab and utilising progressive overload to make a real difference in long-term ability.

Nathan is now fulfilling his passion full time as The Strength & Conditioning Physiotherapist in Mandurah, working out of The Cave Strength and Conditioning Gym.
